Pine Nuts are called Chilgoza چلغوزہ in Urdu. They are the seeds of a Pine tree. Pine Nuts are widely grown in northern Pakistan, including Chilas, Ghizer, and Hunza. Pine Nuts are healthy when added to your diet. They can be added to salads, spread on top of hummus, or eaten as snacks.

Many people are surprised to find that pine trees produce an edible nut that’s not only tasty but also nutritious. Pine nuts (Chilgoza) have been widely consumed since prehistoric times and have enjoyed extensive culinary use in many different cultures. Like most nuts, pine nuts are a great source of protein, thiamin (vitamin B1), and magnesium.

Chilgoza tree takes as much as 25 years to start producing nuts. It takes a few extra years to give a total yield. They often resemble Peanuts or Apricot Nuts.
